About us

We are a small group of guitarists who happen to also be electrical engineers, an amp technician and programmer located in the Midlands UK, dedicated to quality workmanship and take huge pride in our work and customer service - currently we operate not for huge profit, but to establish our name and reputation.

Hopefully our prices reflect this, they only just cover our materials, import costs, equipment, chemicals & fuel to the post office. Every single surplus penny earned gets ploughed into the purchase of equipment and test pedals/pickups/leads for us to develop new mods on. However our customers are quick to point out that the quality of our work is second to none! Many mods are fine tuned with the help of professional musicians to meet their needs, and ensure they sound great at stage performance volumes.

Why?
Because we want the Holy Grail of tone also!

News

Our research and development guys have been busy beavering away in one dark corner of our workshop for the past couple of months developing a true bypass system that can be dropped into most Ibanez/Dunlop and some Boss pedals (others manufacturers & models still to be determined). Finally the fumes have cleared and the end result is a small circuit approx 35mm x 25mm, that requires very little power to operate, that will actuate true bypass and LED indicator via a miniature relay.

Subject: Feedback on DS-1 and DD3 Mod

Good Afternoon Chris
I have been meaning to contact you with feedback regarding the mods that you did to my Bos DS-1 and DD3 a few months back. Sorry that it has taken a while but I have been very busy and I wanted to test the pedals properly first. I just want to say that I am delighted with both of the mods that were carried out and the service that you provided and I certainly would reccommend you to anybody. The DS-1 mod has really changed it completely beyond recognition to what it was before I sent you it and I now see it as an incredibly versatile pedal. I play in a rock covers band and I mainly use it with the toggle switch in the up position and on a low gain setting. From this I can get a very heavy sound, I play a gibson SG standard through an Ashdown Peacemaker 60 watt head and into a 4x12 cab. When I turn the gain up and flip the toggle switch to the middle position the pedal becomes a different beast entirely. When playing lead it is as though the pedal is playing an octave down harmony like an octave fuzz pedal, it really is interesting stuff. Before the mod I had become frustrated with the DD3 as the amp that I use has a very low efects loop level even when it is turned on full and since I like to place the delay in the loop I was on the look out for a pedal that had more output. I have found however that with the toggle switch up using the aggressive delay setting that this particular problem is now solved so thanks. I have tried the pedal on the middle setting in my old Marshall VS 100 which has a very loud effects loop if you turn it up and on this setting the pedal, as you say in your review does have an anologue type characteristic to the sound which is very interesting and I am sure I will use it whilst recording in the future. Anyway I would just like to say a big thankyou once again from a very satisfied customer.

Kind regards

Steven Winder

Subject: Re: Info for a Boss DS1 mod

Hi Chris,
I received the pedal this morning, I made a quick test, and the result is far better that what I was expecting. Before the mod, the knobs had to be at the minimum, but now I have a lot of great options with different settings. The sound is so clear, it is really cooler than before. Thanks again for the job you've done, I will definitely come back to you to mod the SD1.

Cheers

Xav

Subject: RE: Boss CE2B - mod and repair

Hi Chris
I picked the CE2B up the other day. I’ve not been able to use it in a band situation yet, but first impressions are good – it sounds great. It seems to take having distortion pedals into it much better and the chorus sound is less muddy – not that it was that muddy to start with.

Thanks

Mark

HI Chris
Well done mate, great work, both pedals sound brilliant. I teach at Lipa, Liverpool University and Liverpool Community College and I'll be passing the good word on. If you have any cards send me some. I'll also have a dig round for other old pedals you can do stuff with, I have a couple of old Wahs, a Ratt etc

Much thanks

Carlo

Subject: RE: Mods & Repair

Just wanted to say thanks for the GE7 mod and Vox repair you performed. I've finally put both pedals through their paces and I can report that they both are 100% better! Or should that be 1000% for the Vox - it sounds superb.

Kind regards

James

Subject: RE: Booking a mod for Boss SD-1

Apologies for not getting back to you. Just before Christmas, I treated myself to an original 1970 Fender Deluxe Reverb on ebay so I was a bit distracted with my new purchase. However, I did mean to get back to you just to say thanks for the SD-1 mod. The pedal has a smooth progressive overdrive response over the full range of the drive knob AND it's nice and quiet. What more can you ask for?

Thanks again for all your work and efficient turnaround,

John

Subject: Boss CS-2
The pedal arrived this morning and its spectacular, thank you very much.

Are you up for a challenge ?
I have a Mad Professor “ hand made “ compressor and it’s also noisy.
Mad Professor recently replaced it even though it was out of warranty and this new one is exactly the same.

They’ve told me there’s nothing more they can do but I wonder if you’d be able to ?
This thing even hisses on a clean sound, not even the CS-2 did that and I’m hoping to use it on my acoustic board..

If I send it to you, do you think you could try to identify the issue ?
Many thanks for a fantastic service

Subject: CE-2 and GLX distortion

Hi Chris,

I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch sooner but I was laid low by a very unwelcome stomach bug!

Thank you for the work on the two pedals – there was a definite improvement to the GLX pedal and the old CE-2 was superb – it has a new lease of life.

I have recommended a friend (Keith Jxxxx – Cardiff with a CS-3 pedal) to you.

Best wishes,

John

Subject: RE: Pedal Repair & Mod query? [CE-2, Dunlop Wah, BD-2]

Hi Chris

I just wanted to write and thank you personally for the fantastic job you did on my pedals. I'm sat at work having finished my third gig with them last night and I am grinning like a Cheshire cat! The CE-2 Chorus is clear and prominent, I'm so glad I had the mod done - it even does the leslie thing now. The BD-2 Blues Driver sounds better than before - even though it was just a repair job it acts superbly as a driver for the rhythm channel or adding extra bite to the lead. And the Wah is faultless - I could be accused of over using it soon!

So in short many thanks for your great service, fast turnaround and incredibly reasonable price!

Hi Chris,

M

y Boss CS-3 arrived on Saturday morning – many thanks for an excellent job.

I would be grateful if you would cast your eyes over my OD-3 and DS-1 pedals with a view to repair and improve. After “modding” both pedals (xxxxx xxxxx) the noise level increased and the level control became too sensitive.

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,

John
